As you can see, we have
started the
new season of the
Lawrence Welk Show on PBS TV.
Prior to the start of the season, we were alerted to the fact that our show is again rated #1 on PBS this
year. Our
new format for this year is really a lot of fun. We'll have 2,
not 1, but 2 of our stars (Marylou Metzger
and Bobby Burgess) commenting on each weeks show. Enjoy family!

Now
a little history written by a wonderful member of our staff.
Johnny
Zell has been playing and singing for fans of the
famous Lawrence Welk TV Show for many years! While Johnny was in the army
and a member
of the North American Air Defence Command Band (NORAD),
Lawrence Welk
called to see if he would come
to Hollywood and represent NORAD (The North American Air Defense Command) on Lawrence's national television show. Johnny
soon left for Hollywood to do the show. After his performance, Mr. Welk asked
him how much time he had left in the service. After Johnny's reply of . .
. "13 months sir", Mr. Welk said, "Johnny, come and see me when you get out
of the service, I may have a job for you"! Mr. Welk kept his word and Johnny
joined the Welk orchestra the following year after his release from the Army.
He has now performed for 38 years with the Lennon Sisters, Guy and Ralna,
Myron Floren and the wonderful Champagne Music Makers. He has remained with the
show all these years. The television show is seen weekly
on 337 stations across America and Canada.
In the meantime, keep watching the Lawrence Welk Show on PBS TV
every week (now in our 68th year). Johnny will be performing his wonderful trumpet
music on these shows.
And
now something wunnerful, wunnerful and new!!!! Johnny has just
been ordained as a pastor! He and wife Laura have started a
new church in Southern California. It's called . . . "THE
CHURCH OF NEW BEGINNINGS" and is an inter-denominational church.
Each week he plays his trumpet, preaches the GOOD NEWS THAT JESUS
SAVES, and teaches practical lessons in life as the Bible instructs.
During the summer, the church is "mobile" being that most of the
members (and Pastor Johnny) are travelling. Hence, the church
is On-Line. The plan has worked out wunnerful, wunnerful.
